Journalist Ian Henshall started roasting arabica on a street corner with propane cylinders to fund his magazine Outlook. A permanent shop on Portobello Road followed in 1997, and coffee now arrives twice weekly from a 30kg roaster in Wembley.
Dark wood shelving behind the counter holds dozens of labelled bins of whole beans by origin and roast. Bar seating sits at the back of the small room, and round tables stand on the pavement outside.
