J. Theo Halliday designed the coal-fired station, with Giles Gilbert Scott credited for the exterior. Station A was built 1929 to 1935 and Station B by 1955. It stopped generating in 1983, appeared on Pink Floyd's Animals, and reopened in October 2022.
