Stephen Leighton started selling coffee from a market stall in Stafford in 1999, shifting three bags on the first day. He roasted on an Alpenrost home roaster in his garage before upgrading to a 2kg machine, then a 750 square foot industrial unit. He judged Cup of Excellence in Nicaragua in 2005.
Dale Harris, Director of Wholesale, won the 2017 World Barista Championship in Seoul using SL 28 from Finca Las Brumas in El Salvador. Ozone Coffee Roasters acquired Has Bean in 2018, with Leighton becoming Executive Director. The combined company rebranded fully to Ozone in early 2024.
