Hackney railway arch bakehouse, refugee training since 2013 and its own roastery.

Ben built a clay oven from local carpenters' off-cuts in 2010, after studying sourdough at the School of Artisan Food. The original arch now also holds a flour mill and a pastry department, and the bakehouse has grown to three sites, including Poplar and the V&A East Storehouse.

Beans come from community-owned exporters at origin. Fellows Farm in Suffolk delivers cereals and vegetables each week.

At this shop

The shop shares the ground floor of the Poplar Union arts and community centre, opening onto a paved plaza where customers sit at picnic tables with coffee. Inside, a long counter is faced in tiles that run from yellow to green.
