Hackney railway arch bakehouse, refugee training since 2013 and its own roastery.

Ben built a clay oven from local carpenters' off-cuts in 2010, after studying sourdough at the School of Artisan Food. The original arch now also holds a flour mill and a pastry department, and the bakehouse has grown to three sites, including Poplar and the V&A East Storehouse.

Beans come from community-owned exporters at origin. Fellows Farm in Suffolk delivers cereals and vegetables each week.

At this shop

A green roundel sign hangs from the brick arch on Mentmore Terrace, above a green awning. Inside, bread is sold from a counter near the entrance, with an espresso bar further back, bench seating and a wooden ladder climbing to a loft partway down the room. Double doors at the back open onto a covered courtyard under a timber pergola.
