Shipping-container coffee bar in Canary Wharf, craft beer by evening.

Brighton-based founders Ross Blake and Alice Duvernois opened the first permanent site in April 2017, after conceiving 640 East as a sustainable pop-up bar. Coffee comes from roasters in London and Europe, alongside craft beer from Five Points, DEYA, and Pillars.

The brand has since spread to Bethnal Green, Hayes, Bristol, and Brighton.

At this shop

On Water Street in the Wood Wharf development, a red 640 EAST neon sign fills the glass frontage, with round marble tables along a bench outside and more on the side street. Inside, a long wooden table sits by the window, and a run of stools along the glass looks out to the office towers across the street.
