South London coffee bars named for the running track's outside lane.

George Rendall left management consulting to open a design-led espresso bar next to East Dulwich station in summer 2019, aiming to slow people down. Cafes now trade in Clapham Common, Lavender Hill, Wandsworth, and Tooting Bec.

The menu carries ceremonial matcha from Kyushu, Japan, and no syrups or flavoured cold foams.

At this shop

Lane Eight sits on The Pavement in a white-framed glass shopfront, with a black bench outside and the trees of the common across the road. Inside, a fluted timber counter runs along the right of one narrow room, facing a pink plaster wall, and a timber bench is built into the front window.
