South London coffee bars named for the running track's outside lane.

George Rendall left management consulting to open a design-led espresso bar next to East Dulwich station in summer 2019, aiming to slow people down. Cafes now trade in Clapham Common, Lavender Hill, Wandsworth, and Tooting Bec.

The menu carries ceremonial matcha from Kyushu, Japan, and no syrups or flavoured cold foams.

At this shop

Lane Eight is on the corner of East Hill in Wandsworth, in a white-painted shopfront glazed on two sides. A long room of limewashed plaster runs back from the door, with the counter down one wall and a built-in bench down the other. The front windows look out over the junction and the brick terrace opposite.
