Irish couple's Brixton cafes, the first hand-built from a derelict estate agents.

Ken Nally, an industrial designer from Wicklow, and Ciara O'Shea, a makeup artist from Tipperary, had lived across the road for 20 years before they opened in August 2014. They married two weeks later.

From 2017 to 2020 a 1978 Ford Transit served Windrush Square commuters. The second cafe opened on Coldharbour Lane in 2022. Alchemy and Square Mile supply the coffee.

At this shop

On Brixton Hill, the black shopfront advertises bread, groceries and dairy in gold lettering. Inside, wire shelving of bread and jarred produce fronts a window bar with stools, and out back a brick-walled garden sits under a pergola of climbing greenery, with benches among ferns and milk churns.
