Founders Smail and Jamal grew up in Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria, reunited in the UK in 2012, and launched their first coffee roastery in 2014. Grounded opened on Whitechapel Road the next year, and the Bow Road branch is a converted bank. Coffee comes from sister company Camden Coffee Roastery.
