Notting Hill coffee, bakery and bagel group inspired by Japanese minimalism.

Publisher Julian Victoria and Jacob Van Nieuwkoop opened Kuro Coffee in 2021 in an empty two-floor building. The name is the Japanese word for black.

The bakery followed in a former magazine kiosk, and the Kuro Eatery became Kuro Bagels in 2025. That November the founders opened a fourth site inside Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge.

At this shop

On Hillgate Street in Notting Hill, the shop sits in a whitewashed brick townhouse with two wooden benches built into the step outside. Inside, a narrow staircase leads up to a single room, where sash windows beside an exposed brick chimney breast look onto the pastel-painted houses opposite.
