Bloomsbury-born London group, among the first for batch brew and cuppings.

Roger Hart, a former trainee nurse, and Jack Hesketh, a UCL biologist working on his PhD, opened the first shop in October 2010. They were among the first London cafés to serve cold brew, matcha and guest espresso.

Square Mile Coffee Roasters is the main roaster. Four shops now trade: Store Street, Tavistock Place, Hammersmith, and Bishopsgate, which opened in January 2022.

At this shop

On the ground floor of an office block on Hammersmith Road, glass runs floor to ceiling onto a paved courtyard on one side and the street on the other. A second room, laid in herringbone parquet, holds a run of high-sided red pod sofas, each with its own reading lamp.
